Mission and Objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme in Zimbabwe operates under the broader framework of the United Nations system in Zimbabwe, which has been active since 1980 at the invitation of the Government of Zimbabwe. UNV supports national development priorities and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting volunteerism as a powerful means of engaging people in development and peacebuilding efforts. UNV Zimbabwe works closely with UN agencies, government ministries, civil society, and development partners to strengthen capacities, foster inclusive participation, and mobilize volunteers for transformative initiatives. UNV Zimbabwe’s mission is to promote volunteerism for peace and development, enabling people to contribute their time, skills, and experience to advance sustainable development, social cohesion, and resilience. The program seeks to integrate volunteerism into development planning and implementation, ensuring that volunteers are catalysts for positive change in communities.

Context

The IVY 2026 campaign aims to promote volunteerism and youth engagement across Zimbabwe and globally through dynamic online outreach. This campaign will run for 8 weeks, leveraging social media platforms to amplify key messages, encourage participation, and showcase the impact of volunteerism. A Trello board with draft key messages is available to guide content creation and ensure consistency.

Task Description

UNV Zimbabwe seeks four online volunteers to support the launch and roll-out of the IVY 2026 online campaign by creating and managing content for social media platforms: - Two volunteers for Twitter - Two volunteers for Facebook Volunteers will: - Develop engaging, creative, and visually appealing content aligned with UNV’s communication strategy and campaign objectives. - Post at least one update per week per platform (approx. 8 posts per volunteer over the campaign period). - Collaborate with each other and the UNV Zimbabwe team to ensure coherence and consistency in messaging. - Utilize the Trello board with pre-drafted key messages as a foundation for content creation. - Suggest strategies to increase reach and engagement, particularly among youth and potential volunteers. - Monitor and analyze engagement metrics to assess campaign effectiveness.
