Mission and Objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation.

Context

The UNV Regional Offices (RO) provide oversight and strategic guidance to the UNV Field Units in their respective geographical assignments and are mainly accountable for the placement of UN Volunteers mobilized for UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. Furthermore, the Regional Offices represent, and strategically position, UNV and bring UNV’s services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society and private sector. The Regional Offices also lead in scoping and delivering UNV’s advisory service offer on volunteer infrastructure. Task Description

Under the direct supervision the Regional Communication Analyst, the UNV Multimedia, Content Creator Assistant will undertake the following tasks: 1. Creative Development and Video Editing: •Conceptualize, design, and produce visually compelling content for various platforms (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram), including graphics, animations, and video assets. •Assemble and edit raw footage; manage post-production elements to ensure logical sequencing, visual consistency, and smooth delivery of all video productions. •Develop storyboards and script video concepts in alignment with overarching campaign goals. 2. Brand Enhancement: •Enforce consistent brand standards, ensuring design coherence across all materials, including video content, color grading, and graphic elements. •Contribute to the ongoing development of the brand’s visual identity, providing insights informed by current design trends and best practices. 3. Content Creation and Multimedia Storytelling: •Develop original and innovative content that effectively communicates the brand narrative across video, digital, and print materials. •Leverage motion graphics and other design elements to enhance storytelling, boost viewer engagement, and improve message retention in video content. 4. Collaboration and Strategy: •Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to understand marketing objectives and translate them into creative strategies. •Coordinate with internal departments, external agencies, and contractors as needed, ensuring all multimedia content is cohesive and aligns with the brand voice. 5. Project Management: •Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to tight deadlines without compromising on quality. •Balance creative desires with operational constraints, finding innovative solutions to produce high-quality work within timeline restrictions. 6. Quality Assurance, Analytics, and Feedback: •Perform quality checks on all visual elements, ensuring every piece meets the established standards and objectives. •Analyze content performance, adjusting strategies based on user engagement data and feedback for continual improvement. 7. Professional Development: - Stay ahead of industry trends, tools, and technologies in graphic design, video editing, and content creation. •Embrace professional development opportunities, continuously enhancing technical skills and creative capabilities. 8. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: •Perform any other duties Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD); •Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; •Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; •Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible. 10. Results/Expected Outputs: •Produce compelling graphic design and video elements to enhance narrative and viewer engagement. •Conceptualize and produce high-quality social videos commemorating international days and spotlighting UNV's flagship activities, ensuring content is engaging, informative, and aligned with UNV's messaging. •Design and execute creative social media campaigns for International Days, utilizing a mix of content forms (graphics, videos, and text) to promote awareness, engagement, and advocacy. •Create new communication approaches, leveraging graphic design, captivating visuals, and multimedia content to keep social media interactions fresh, appealing, and reflective of current trends. •Capture high-quality photographs and videos during events, missions, or fieldwork, ensuring they are suitable for social media, reports, and promotional materials. - Produce diverse social media content, from initial concept to final design, including posts, infographics, motion graphics, and short-form videos, that reflect UNV's values and mission. •Support field units with their graphic design •The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs); •Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment.

Skills and experience
of progressive experience with a demonstrated portfolio encompassing graphic design, content creation, and video editing. •Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and Canva Pro, as well as other relevant editing software. •Strong narrative skills with the ability to convey stories and concepts through video and other visual media. •Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. •Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, SEO principles, and web analytics tools (preferred). Soft skills: •Solid computer skills, including basic website management. •Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. •Strong organizational skills. Additional Assets: •Knowledge of UN agencies and civil society organizations in Senegal and/or West and Central Africa is highly desirable. •Excellent written and spoken French, with a solid working knowledge of English.

Living conditions and remarks
As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. The contract is for the period indicated above with the possibility to extend subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment. A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) per month at the rate of : USD 32,393.59. and is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs
