Mission and Objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of volunteers, including experienced UN Volunteers, throughout the world. UNV embraces volunteerism as universal and inclusive and recognizes volunteerism in its diversity as well as the values that sustain it: free will, commitment, engagement and solidarity.
Context
The Volunteer Advisory Services Section (VASS) contributes to positioning UNV as a knowledge and policy hub on volunteering for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by generating knowledge, consolidating evidence, and advocating for the integration of volunteerism into the 2030 Agenda.
To support the dissemination of the 2026 State of the World’s Volunteerism Report (SWVR), VASS is coordinating a digital engagement initiative This assignment aims to amplify key messages, broaden reach across diverse audiences, and drive engagement with the reports evidence
Task Description
Under the guidance of the VASS Knowledge Management Specialist, the 7 Online Volunteers will divide responsibilities to support the following:
Content Dissemination & Outreach
Mapping of relevant networks, platforms and media for dissemination of 2026 SWVR findings and content (priority given to policy, academic and volunteer practitioners).
Support the promotion of the (SWVR across professional (LinkedIn) and public (X, Facebook, and Instagram) platforms using approved messages and visuals in different languages.
Disseminate SWVR assets and content (infographics, quotes, factsheets) to target online communities and networks identified during the mapping phase.
Draft relevant captions and social cards to localize messages for regional audiences: all messages must be cleared by the UNV team prior to posting.
Monitoring and Analytics
Manually track and document online mentions, hashtags, and engagement related to SWVR using native platform analytics and publicly available search tools.
Compile weekly performance summaries including reach, impressions, engagement, and trending themes.
Strategic Support
Identify online communities, networks, thought leaders (at regional and national levels) and influencers capable of amplifying SWVR content.
Contribute creative ideas for improved outreach and engagement strategies.
Note: Guidance on workflow and specific platforms of focus will be provided via Zoom/Microsoft Teams at the start of the assignment.

Skills and experience
Social Media Fluency: Strong understanding of platform-specific engagement strategies (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, professional networks and communities of practice)
Analytics: Experience with native social media dashboards (e.g., Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics) and Excel/Sheets for reporting.
Background: Academic or professional background in development studies, research, international relations, communications, or media.
Experience: Previous experience in digital outreach, or online advocacy for knowledge products is an asset.
