Context

The WFP Egypt Country Office employees regularly engage with international stakeholders and colleagues across the UN system. To strengthen professional communication and reporting quality, WFP seeks experienced online volunteers to support staff in developing practical English language skills—focusing on speaking, listening, and writing. Participants will be grouped into beginner, intermediate, and upper-intermediate levels based on a pre-assessment. Each volunteer will be assigned to one group and will work with tailored content designed to meet the specific needs of that proficiency level. We’re seeking passionate and skilled online volunteers to join us. Your support will empower WFP staff to communicate more effectively, collaborate more confidently, and represent our work with greater impact.

Task Description

The WFP Egypt Country Office is seeking six dedicated online volunteers to support a group of WFP employees in improving their English language proficiency across three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Upper Intermediate. Each volunteer will be assigned to one group and will be key in designing and delivering a customised learning experience. The goal is to achieve a measurable improvement in participants’ English communication skills, with a target of at least 30% proficiency improvement by the end of the assignment. Key Responsibilities: 1. Initial Assessment: - Conduct a pre-assessment to evaluate the current English proficiency of assigned participants. - Use the results to inform course design and group placement. 2. Customised Course Design: - Develop or adapt learning materials tailored to the group’s level and professional needs. - Focus on practical language use in workplace contexts such as meetings, email writing, and presentations. 3. Weekly Virtual Sessions: - Facilitate two interactive weekly classes (1 hour each) via online platforms. - Ensure sessions are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with learning objectives. 4. Interactive Learning Activities: - Incorporate group discussions, role plays, case studies, and real-world scenarios to enhance engagement and retention. 5. Assignments and Practice: - Provide short, practical assignments or exercises for participants to complete between sessions. - Offer feedback and guidance to reinforce learning. 6. Final Assessment and Feedback: - Administer a post-assessment to measure progress and identify areas for continued improvement. - Provide detailed feedback to participants. Collaboration and Reporting: 7. Work closely with WFP HR focal points to monitor progress, adjust content as needed, and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
