Mission and Objectives
The UN Resident Coordinator (RC) system encompasses all organizations of the United Nations system dealing with operational activities for development, regardless of their formal presence in the country. The RC system aims to bring together the different UN agencies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level.
Context
The United Nations in North Macedonia is committed to advancing gender equality, human rights, and sustainable development through impactful communication and public engagement. As part of ongoing efforts to promote key initiatives and events the UN seeks volunteer graphic design support to ensure consistent, high quality, and visually engaging communication materials.
The volunteer will contribute to strengthening the visibility of UN initiatives and delivering high-quality products that inspire and engage diverse audiences, including youth, civil society partners, and the general public.
Task Description
1. Objective of the Assignment
The objective of this assignment is to provide creative graphic design support for the preparation of communication materials, including social media assets, event invitations, brochures, and information products. These materials will be used across UN platforms and partner channels to enhance outreach and public engagement.

2. Scope of Work and Deliverables
The volunteer Graphic Designer will be responsible for producing the following materials:
2.1 Social Media Materials
- Five (5) social media flyers
Designed in formats appropriate for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter.
- 3 infographics
2.2 Event Materials
- Two (2) event invitations (digital format)
- Two (2) event flyers
Developed to support the celebration of International Women’s Day and other related activities.
2.3 Publications and Information Products
- Two (2) project brochure designs
Page count TBD (typically 2–6 pages), aligned with UN branding guidelines.
- One (1) one pager design
A concise information sheet summarizing a project, initiative, or announcement.

3. Responsibilities of the Volunteer
The volunteer is expected to:
- Produce visually appealing, professional, and brand aligned designs according to UN branding and style guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the Communications Team and relevant project leads.
- Incorporate feedback and submit revised versions as needed.
- Deliver final products in editable formats (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Canva) and publication formats (PDF, PNG/JPG).
- Ensure content accuracy, clarity, and sensitivity to UN values, including inclusiveness, gender responsiveness, and accessibility.

4. Expected Timeline
The assignment is expected to run over a 3 months, with specific deadlines agreed upon with the Communications Team. Deliverables may be requested in phases based on event timelines and outreach needs.

5. Reporting and Communication
The volunteer will report directly to:
Partnership Officer, Data Officer and Economist (or designated Communications focal point).
Regular communication will be maintained via email, online meetings, and shared platforms (Teams, SharePoint, or others as relevant).

6. Qualifications and Skills Required
- Proven experience in graphic design (portfolio required).
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
- Understanding of branding principles; experience with UN or institutional branding is an asset.
- Creativity, attention to detail, and ability to deliver on deadlines.
- Strong sense of visual communication related to gender equality and social impact themes is an asset.

7. Volunteer Status
This is a voluntary, unpaid assignment.
The UN will acknowledge the volunteer’s contribution through:
- A certificate of appreciation upon completion
- Mention in relevant internal or external documentation when appropriate

8. Confidentiality and Ownership
All design files and materials produced under this assignment are the property of the United Nations in North Macedonia. The volunteer may include the designs in their professional portfolio with prior consent.
