Mission and Objectives

The Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) is a pioneering NGO founded in 2000 to promote the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) among women and girls. WOUGNET envisions an inclusive and just society where women and girls are empowered as active participants using digital innovation and technology to foster Uganda’s sustainable development. WOUGNET operates a community of practice in collaboration with like-minded partners.

Context

In the current global context, the work of Women of Uganda-Network is especially critical. Uganda faces challenges such as limited internet access in rural areas, high costs of connectivity, and persistent gender gaps in digital literacy. Globally, the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and digital economies has created new opportunities but also risks of exclusion for those without adequate skills or access. WOUGNET’s initiatives—ranging from digital literacy training to advocacy for gender-sensitive digital policies—help women in Uganda navigate these challenges, ensuring they are not left behind in the digital transformation. A new, forward-looking logo is required as part of a broader communications strategy to strengthen the WOUGNET brand as a Centre of Excellence on Gender Equality, Digital Innovation and Technology.

Task Description

The organization is a women’s rights NGO dedicated to advancing gender equality, digital inclusion, innovation, and the meaningful participation of women and girls in technology-driven development. As part of its institutional strengthening and visibility efforts, the organization seeks to develop a professional, inclusive, and forward-looking logo that reflects its mission, values, and strategic focus. Under the supervision of the Communications/Programs Team, the UNV Online Volunteer will support the organization by designing a new logo that aligns with its vision, mission, and thematic focus. The volunteer will be expected to: - Review background information on the organization’s mission, values, and target audiences – to be provided by WOUGNET - Develop 3 logo concepts that reflect gender equality, empowerment, innovation, and digital inclusion - Incorporate feedback from the organization to refine the selected concept - Deliver a final logo in multiple formats suitable for digital and print use (e.g. PNG, JPG, SVG, AI or PSD) - Provide basic brand guidance on logo usage (color codes, fonts, and scaling) Expected Outputs: - Final approved organizational logo - Logo files in editable and non-editable formats - Brief logo usage guidelines
