Mission and Objectives
Camara works to improve learning outcomes for underserved communities by expanding access to inclusive, technology‑enabled education solutions. Through its digital learning initiatives, Camara supports students and teachers with tools that strengthen subject learning, digital literacy, and equitable access to quality education.
As part of this mission, Camara has developed the Camara AI Assistant, an offline, curriculum-aligned digital learning tool used in schools to support classroom instruction, exam preparation, and independent learning. To strengthen evidence‑based decision‑making and accountability to education partners, Camara seeks to design a Digital Learning Analytics and Impact Reporting Dashboard that transforms system-generated learning data into actionable insights.
This assignment aims to support the development of a structured digital reporting solution that enables Camara to better monitor learning engagement, inform program improvement, and strengthen data‑driven reporting to donors and relevant education stakeholders.
Context
Camara deploys offline, curriculum‑aligned digital learning systems in schools through smart classrooms and digital learning hubs. These systems include the Camara AI Assistant and other digital tools designed to support classroom instruction, independent learning, and digital literacy development in low‑connectivity environments.
While these tools generate valuable data on learning engagement and usage at the school level, this information is currently stored locally and is not consolidated into a centralized analytics and reporting structure. As a result, Camara has limited ability to systematically monitor adoption trends, analyze learning engagement patterns across schools, or translate digital usage data into insights that support programme improvement and external reporting.
This assignment is situated within Camara’s broader objective to strengthen evidence‑based decision‑making and accountability in its digital education programmes. By supporting the conceptual design of a centralized Digital Learning Analytics and Impact Reporting Dashboard, the assignment will help establish a clear framework for aggregating, interpreting, and visualizing learning‑relevant data in a privacy‑conscious and education‑appropriate manner.
The outputs of this assignment will provide the analytical and design foundation needed to inform future technical implementation, enabling Camara and its partners to better understand the reach, adoption, and learning engagement associated with its digital education interventions.
These design outputs will form the foundation for a subsequent implementation phase, supported through a separate software development assignment.
Task Description
Camara Education Ethiopia is seeking two (2) Online Volunteers with complementary skills in learning analytics, data modeling, digital reporting, and education‑focused monitoring and evaluation.
Under the supervision of the Digital Learning & AI Lead at Camara, Online Volunteers will collaboratively support the conceptual design and documentation of a Digital Learning Analytics & Impact Reporting Dashboard.
The assignment focuses on defining a structured, privacy‑conscious reporting framework that enables the aggregation and interpretation of learning engagement data generated by Camara’s digital learning tools.
The assignment is task‑based, time‑bound, and fully remote, in line with UNV Online Volunteering criteria. Online Volunteers will collaborate virtually through email, shared documents, and periodic coordination calls, and will receive regular guidance and feedback from the supervising team.
Online Volunteers will contribute to the following tasks:
- Design a high‑level analytics and reporting framework for consolidating school‑level digital learning data into a centralized dashboard.
- Define learning‑relevant data elements and indicators that support monitoring of access, engagement, and adoption trends.
- Propose standardized metrics for AI‑supported learning usage, such as frequency of use, session patterns, and subject coverage.
- Develop conceptual data flow diagrams illustrating how data moves from school environments to reporting and visualization layers.
- Recommend approaches for aggregating and visualizing data in a manner that is privacy‑compliant and suitable for education reporting.
- Suggest offline‑first and low‑connectivity‑appropriate design considerations to support deployment in resource‑constrained school settings.
- A high‑level implementation roadmap outlining phased development considerations.
- Produce clear documentation outlining the proposed framework, assumptions, and reporting use cases for internal and external stakeholders.
All outputs will be advisory and design‑focused, delivered in editable formats, and structured as implementation‑ready handover materials to support a subsequent online UNV software developer (or Camara’s technical team) in developing a fully functional system.
Tasks will be distributed between the two Online Volunteers based on expertise, with close collaboration to ensure coherent and integrated outputs.

- Ability to conceptualize learning analytics and reporting frameworks, including defining indicators and aggregation logic relevant to education and digital learning programmes.
- Familiarity with high‑level client–server data flow concepts and how data can be aggregated from distributed environments into centralized reporting structures (conceptual understanding only; no implementation required).
- Experience producing clear, structured documentation, such as data models, reporting frameworks, conceptual data flow diagrams, and implementation‑ready handover materials.
- Understanding of privacy‑aware data practices, including data minimization, aggregation, and role‑based access considerations in education or development contexts.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, decision‑oriented reporting structures.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, task‑based assignment, communicate effectively with a supervising team, and meet agreed deadlines.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
Assets (Desirable)
- Experience with education technology, learning analytics, or digital education systems.
