Mission and Objectives

Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. IICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey, is one of UNDP's six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDP’s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDP’s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas: 1. Inclusive Business; 2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; 3. Impact investing; 4. Resilience and Crisis Response. The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.

Context

Many children in frontline regions of Ukraine continue studying online while facing daily risks such as air raid alerts, shelling, and the presence of UXO. Access to structured, engaging, and psychologically safe preparedness training remains limited. The project introduces two complementary learning modes: Gamified training modules with interactive, choice-based scenarios that allow children to practice decision-making safely. Non-gamified AR simulation mode offering calm, observation-based experiences designed especially for neurodiverse and younger children. All content and interaction flows will be reviewed to ensure psychological safety, age-appropriateness, and trauma-sensitive design. The Volunteer will work within a structured one-month agile implementation cycle, collaborating closely with visual designers, child education specialists, therapists, localization volunteers, testers, and a volunteer coordinator.

Task Description

As an Online Volunteer, you will support the team with the following tasks: -Develop core functionality of the mobile gamified training modules (interactive scenarios, branching logic, navigation flows). -Support implementation of the AR simulation mode using lightweight, accessible technologies suitable for mobile deployment. -Ensure mobile responsiveness and optimization for low-bandwidth and offline use. -Integrate visual assets, animations, narration, subtitles, and localization components. -Implement accessibility features such as clear navigation, readable interface design, and simple interaction logic. -Collaborate with the Psychological Safety Team to ensure safe and non-stressful interaction design (e.g., avoiding aggressive timers or competitive mechanics where inappropriate). -Participate in agile sprint reviews and iterative refinement cycles. -Prepare final deliverables including APK package, structured source code, and technical documentation for open-source handover.
