Mission and Objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.
Context
The National Plan outlines the country’s strategy for observing the International Volunteer Year, including:
-Policy priorities and objectives
-Institutional coordination mechanisms
-Planned national and regional activities
-Monitoring and reporting frameworks
-Stakeholder engagement strategies
An accurate English translation will enable international partners, UN entities, and other Member States to review, reference, and potentially replicate relevant approaches.
Five Online Volunteers will work collaboratively, each assigned specific sections of the document. A structured division of chapters will ensure consistency and efficiency, with coordination and final harmonization across the full document.
Task Description
As an Online Volunteer, you will:
-Translate assigned sections of the National Plan (Spanish to English).
-Ensure accuracy of terminology, especially policy and volunteerism-related terms.
-Maintain the formal tone and structure of an official government/UN document.
-Preserve formatting elements such as headings, tables, and annex references.
-Flag any unclear or ambiguous sections for clarification.
-Coordinate with fellow translators to ensure consistency in terminology and style.
-Participate in final harmonization to ensure coherence across the full 375-page document.
Volunteers may be assigned approximately 70–80 pages each, depending on complexity and formatting.
