Mission and Objectives
Bringing the world together to tackle humanitarian emergencies and save the lives of people caught in crises.
Context
Conflicts, disasters, and displacement are pushing millions of people to the brink, while global solidarity is under increasing pressure. Humanitarian organizations require urgent support to deliver life-saving assistance to those most in need.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is leading the “One Life at a Time” (#87MillionLives) campaign to mobilize awareness and resources to support the 87 million people facing the most severe humanitarian needs in 2026.
The campaign emphasizes that behind large numbers are individual human lives, that even small acts of solidarity can create meaningful impact. Through digital engagement, storytelling, and advocacy, the campaign aims to inspire global audiences to care, share, and take action.
Task Description
We are seeking support from online volunteers based in Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America to amplify the “One Life at a Time” campaign and promote global solidarity through social media.
Under the guidance of the United Nations, volunteers will complete the following tasks:
- Share at least one official campaign asset (video, post, or message) on your social media platforms, including a clear call to action (e.g. learn more, share, or donate) and the hashtag #87MillionLives
- Create at least one original post reflecting on the idea that small actions can make a real difference, including a clear call to action (e.g. learn more, share, or donate) and the hashtag #87MillionLives
- Promote UN Crisis Relief or a select one appeal from the Crisis Relief page, including a clear call to action (e.g. learn more, share, or donate) and the hashtag #87MillionLives
Volunteers are encouraged to use their own voice and storytelling style to make the content authentic, respectful, and engaging.
