Mission and objectives
Simuka Africa Youth Association is listed as SDG Action Cause #53469 in the area of Sustainable Education. This quarter, SimukaAfrica.org and its 34 Gallery Initiative currently seek highly motivated professionals to work directly alongside Simuka Africa’s Founding Director, The 34 Gallery Curator, and a 34 Gallery Advisor for a three month duration. These detail-oriented and organized Assistants will support our nonprofit expansion of The Norton Library and the creative production team with The 34 Gallery. These roles involve quality assurance, public relations, and administrative tasks that are essential to maintaining high standards in our organization as it enters its 20th year of operation.
Context
Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) covers good health and well-being goals. This overall purpose is to ensure healthy living for the global population, encourage preventative care and promote well-being at all ages. SDG 3 goals address all major health priorities, including mental, reproductive, maternal and child health; communicable, non-communicable and environmental disease; universal health coverage; and access for all to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines and vaccines. Our efforts focus on the reduction of the global suicide rate, elimination of mental health stigmas, and the continuation of the mental health dialogue beyond May’s Mental Health Awareness Month.
Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) focuses on education and aims to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” Our campaign seeks to emphasize reading, digital literacy, arts education and utilizing the arts for self-care in areas where mental health services are unavailable. By fusing the arts with this process, we have seen a dramatic increase in interest and sincerity among participants.
Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) promotes sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. At SimukaAfrica.org, our focus is career development and improved outcomes for at-risk youth, young Adults', and child marriage survivors. By providing written commentary on relevant topics to these target groups, we provide tools from the international community through shared lived experience and career advice.
