Mission and objectives

socialprotection.org, an online member-based knowledge sharing and capacity strengthening platform, will launch the 13th session of the Ambassadors Programme in August 2026! The Programme aims to strengthen awareness and understanding of social protection by engaging a diverse network of ambassadors who promote knowledge sharing and amplify social protection initiatives within their regions and professional communities. By fostering participation from individuals across different geographical and institutional contexts, the Programme also seeks to expand the reach, visibility, and inclusiveness of socialprotection.org, ensuring that the platform reflects diverse perspectives and experiences from around the world. This year also marks an important milestone for socialprotection.org with the launch of our new platform. Following this major transformation, the focus of this call will be on enhancing the quality, accessibility, and presentation of content across the platform. As an Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to this effort. The specific objectives are: - Promote socialprotection.org and its knowledge-sharing and capacity-strengthening opportunities within the Ambassadors’ regions and professional networks, raising awareness of social protection and encouraging greater engagement with the platform. - Strengthen the reach, visibility, and inclusiveness of socialprotection.org by fostering participation from diverse geographical, institutional, and professional contexts, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives and experiences are represented on the platform. - Contribute to enhancing the quality, accessibility, and organisation of the platform’s content

Context

socialprotection.org (hosted by UNRISD) is an online member-based knowledge sharing and capacity building platform. The platform, currently hosted by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), was established in response to a recommendation from the G20 Development Working Group following the triple crisis of the late 2000s, aiming to foster global knowledge sharing on social protection policies. Thanks to the contributions of its members, collaboration with stakeholders, and the dedication of the socialprotection.org team, the unbranded platform directs access to the most up-to-date and comprehensive content on social protection, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. Through these endeavours it has established a global interactive social protection community. Learn more about socialprotection.org: https://socialprotection.org/about
