Mission and objectives
The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office supports the work of the UN Resident Coordinator. The UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team in consultations with the Government to define and agree on the UN strategic response to the Government’s development priorities. The RCO also ensures that the UN Country Team engages comprehensively with normative areas such as youth empowerment, women and girls' empowerment, human rights, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, and disability inclusion. The UN Resident Coordinator Office has five core functions: Strategic Planning, Economics, Partnerships and Development Finance, Data and Results Management and Reporting, Communications and Advocacy.
Context
We are looking for Online Volunteers who, under the immediate supervision of the Resident Coordination Office of the United Nations in Baku, Azerbaijan, will support the monitoring of the daily news, blogs, articles, information about Azerbaijan by producing analytical reports covering geopolitical and socio-economical, etc. related information about Azerbaijan.
Within the focus of the Azerbaijan media monitoring, as Online Volunteer(s), you will be expected to:
- Produce daily media monitoring reports, to be submitted each morning during the weekdays
- Analyse the daily media monitoring results, and identify the relevant ones to report
- Analyse the daily media monitoring reports covering news from/about Azerbaijan
- Produce and submit a daily report for Azerbaijan to be coordinated with the supervisor.
Once a week, meet online for a feedback session with the supervisor to discuss progress and relevant situational matters (the exact time and date will be set later based on mutual availability).
The Online Volunteers who will support with research, analysis, and reporting are expected to use primarily local open-media sources (media, newspapers, articles in local languages, etc.) to report on relevant developments and updates.

The Online Volunteers will collect, collate, verify and report country-related information from Open Sources.
The goal of the assignment is to assist the ongoing media monitoring process aimed at enabling the delivery of RCO and UNCT Azerbaijan in the country. This will be done by producing comprehensive daily reports of relevant information/news from open-media sources.
There is no set start date for this online volunteering assignment, but once selected, the candidate is expected to start as soon as possible.
