What the volunteer will do
Mission and objectives
Founded in 1948, WHO is the United Nations agency that connects nations, partners and people to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health.
Context
The objective of the post is to operate WHO data management and M&E activities and provide evidence driven information for actions aimed at supporting the Country to: Ensure availability of quality, timely, and complete information that guides the health emergency information and Risk Assessment Monitor achievement of recommended performance indicators.
Task description
The incumbent will perform all or part of the following, and other related responsibilities as required by the needs of the office.
1. Support the collection, analyses, production and dissemination of data/information.
2. Aggregate and maintain inter-country information from WHO and partners including contact lists, performance monitoring, health indicator data, health situation data, health response data
3. Participate in the basic geographic analysis for maps and other reports (such as dashboards, SitReps, etc).
4. Upon delegation, provide information sharing between institutions, to strengthen access to information from other organizations and clusters, and to contribute to inter-sectoral dashboards and reports
5. Participate in field surveys if/where needed, such as mortality and vaccination coverage surveys.
6. Provide information management input into the planning and data/information management process; on data gathering and analysis, quality assurance, performance monitoring, information dissemination and management.
7. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

- Sound skills in the area of information management, data analysis, and statistics.
- Demonstrated ability to design, manage and analyze complex information system projects, computer-based applications and databases, web-based tools

- Knowledge of health programs and functioning of the UN system is an asset.
Experience in information management, monitoring, and data analysis.

Dar es Salaam offers good living conditions with access to quality housing, healthcare facilities, international schools, supermarkets, restaurants, and reliable communication services. The city is generally safe, though normal security precautions are advised. Traffic congestion can be heavy during peak hours. Overall, Dar es Salaam is a comfortable and family-friendly duty station with access to essential services and amenities.
