Mission and Objectives

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in some 170 countries and territories, supporting their own solutions to development challenges and developing national and local capacities that will help them achieve human development and the Sustainable Development Goals. Our work is concentrated on three main focus areas: Sustainable development Democratic governance and peacebuilding Climate and disaster resilience UNDP helps countries attract and use aid effectively. In all our activities, we promote gender equality and the protection of human rights. UNDP’s mandate is to end poverty, build democratic governance, rule of law, and inclusive institutions. We advocate for change, and connect countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.

Context

The Regional Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean and the global Team for Open and Inclusive Public Sphere have developed the Atlas of Innovation in Public Communication (view information online at https://www.undp.org/governance/blog/atlas-innovation-public-communication). Based on the existing design and in line with UNDP’s graphic design and branding guidelines, the UNV will be tasked to design the final Atlas of Innovation in Public Communication, highlighting approx. 60 cases that showcase innovative approaches to public communication from different regions. To accompany the Atlas, a guide to public communication has been developed, for which the UNV will be tasked to format and design the final publication of approx. 40 pages. Additionally, the Open and Inclusive Public Sphere Team has been developing guidance for Development Practitioners on Polarization. These two primers of each 20 page would be in scope for the design UNV.
