As the lead United Nations entity mandated to promote and protect human rights for all, we:
Works with and assists Governments in fulfilling their human rights obligations
Speaks out objectively in the face of human rights violations worldwide
Provides a forum for identifying, highlighting and developing responses to today's human rights challenges
Acts as the principal focal point of human rights research, education, public information, and advocacy activities
Works with a wide range of partners in order to widen the constituency for human rights worldwide.
Context
Context: The launch of social media platforms for the CARICOM Regional Office presents an amazing opportunity to brand our office and our work as nationally, regionally and globally impactful. The graphic designer working with the regional office team will serve at ground zero in creating the look and feel of the office’s social media presence.
Objectives:
1. Enhance Visual Storytelling: Design compelling and culturally relevant graphics, infographics, and animations that effectively convey human rights messages tailored to the CARICOM region.
2. Maintain Brand Consistency: Ensure all designs align with the United Nations and CARICOM Regional Office branding guidelines while incorporating regional cultural aesthetics.
3. Support Advocacy Campaigns: Develop eye-catching visual assets for multimedia campaigns addressing regional priorities such as equality, climate justice, and democratic governance.
4. Deliver Timely Outputs: Work closely with the communications team to produce high-quality graphics and videos that meet deadlines for events, observances, and campaigns.
5. Highlight Regional Identity: Incorporate regional cultural symbols, landscapes, and colors into designs to resonate with CARICOM audiences and foster a sense of regional pride.
Task Description
Experienced volunteers are required to design graphic content for the social media platforms of the OHCHR CARICOM Regional Office ongoing Facebook campaign. The volunteers are expected to have virtual meetings with the organization's staff at regular intervals to develop new content and adjust existing materials. Initial meetings will likely be held weekly, with frequency adjusted as needed. Familiarity with projects related to advocacy, non-profit organizations, or international development is preferred.

· Proven experience in graphic design, with a portfolio showcasing social media campaigns and digital content.

Experience with motion graphics and video editing tools like Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro is an advantage. Knowledge of design best practices for various social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook).
· Familiarity with the latest trends in social media design and content. Basic understanding of analytics tools to evaluate design performance and audience engagement.
