Mission and Objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV has five Regional Offices in Amman (Arab States, Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States), Bangkok (Asia and the Pacific), Dakar (West and Central Africa), Nairobi (East and Southern Africa) and Panama City (Latin America and the Caribbean). The regional offices are the first entry point for partners wishing to engage with UNV. They offer UNV services and solutions to government partners, UN entities, civil society and the private sector, and takes the lead in scoping and delivering UNV advisory services on volunteer infrastructure. They also provide oversight and strategic guidance to UNV's field units in the regions.

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in the East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) works to promote volunteerism as a powerful driver of sustainable development. With an expanding portfolio of assignments, regional campaigns and partner engagements, UNV ESARO produces regular communication materials aimed at highlighting the impact of volunteerism across the region.
To strengthen visibility, amplify volunteer voices, and support ongoing regional campaigns, UNV ESARO is seeking Online Volunteers to assist in creating high‑quality digital content for social media.
Task Description
UNV ESARO is seeking the help of six online volunteers each to create content for our five social media pages (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn and You Tube). Creators will support our efforts in strategically showcase regional activities, amplify volunteer stories, and expand the visibility and engagement to global audiences. They will also support the implementation of an integrated digital communication strategy by generating platform‑specific content aligned with UNV’s branding and messaging guidelines.
Each volunteer will be required to produce two social media posts per week, for each social media platform, drawing on information, updates, and materials provided by the ESARO team. Volunteers will work collaboratively with one another and with the UNV ESARO Communications team to ensure coherence and consistency in messaging across all channels.
The volunteer should demonstrate strong creative thinking skills and the ability to develop engaging social media content, plan and support digital campaigns, and assess the effectiveness of their outputs to inform continuous improvement.
