Mission and Objectives

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfil their potential. Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone. And we never give up.

Context

UNICEF Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office (LACRO) is based in Panama and coordinates with 24 LAC Country Offices (CO) operating in 36 countries and territories. The current digital dynamics raise high levels of reputational risk that can affect UNICEF’s mission in a highly polarized environment, and at the same time sets an increased demand for digital engagement in LAC to position UNICEF as a relevant and reliable source of information, tools and experience for children and youth. On the digital landscape, one of the pillars of the Advocacy & Communication Section relies on engaging prioritized audiences through digital platforms to promote children’s rights. To effectively reach and engage those audiences with a dedicated segmentation strategy, UNICEF seeks to leverage digital platforms management in combination with data analysis to provide our audience with relevant, trusted, and appealing experiences that lead them to be UNICEF digital supporters. In this context, the UNV will support the management and monitoring of UNICEF LACRO’s digital platforms through social media management, paid media implementation, monitoring key issues, analytics, reporting and support to digital initiatives. In line with the Regional Digital Strategy, the UN Volunteer will also contribute to activities planned to enhance the digital capacity of LAC country offices.
