UN Women keeps the rights of women and girls at the centre of global progress – always, everywhere. Because gender equality is not just what we do. It is who we are. Women Count is UN Women’s global gender data programme. Also known as ‘Making Every Woman and Girl Count’, it was created to support member states in implementing the 2030 Agenda, and aims to affect a radical shift in the availability, accessibility and use of data and statistics on key aspects of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Women Count is a multi-year and multi-country programme of work, supported by global and regional activities linking normative and technical work on gender statistics at the global level to the regional and national levels. Women Count has three broad aims: 1. Create an enabling environment: Promoting a supportive policy environment to strengthen gender statistics production and use. 2. Improve data production: Through building capacity of national statistical systems and supporting improved data collection so that we can better monitor the SDGs. 3. Increase data use: By providing tools, training and making data accessible, so that data users are better able to use gender statistics in policy, programmes and advocacy.

The UN Women data hub was launched in 2019 to improve access to gender data and increase visibility of UN Women’s impact within the global data community. It is a one-stop shop that presents key gender data, including all the gender-specific SDG indicators in one dashboard; publishes gender data stories that go beyond the numbers, and highlights key publications and resources on gender data and the work of the Women Count programme. In 2026, the data hub is migrating to UN Women's corporate digital environment, which entails a backend merger. This means that all content, publications and resources will need to be migrated from the data hub to the UN Women corporate website.

This assignment is critical in ensuring that content migration from the UN Women’s data hub to the UN Women website, and that digital resources - including stories, publications, and resources - are accurately transferred, well-structured, and fully aligned with the organization’s corporate standards and branding guidelines. The Online Volunteer will be responsible for: 1. Content migration - Migrating stories, publications, and resources content to the new Drupal environment, ensuring the integrity of text, images, multimedia, and metadata. - Maintaining the original content structure, taxonomy, and relationships, such as tags, categories, and cross-references. - Verifying the accuracy and completeness of migrated content, while conducting quality assurance checks to ensure it is error-free and functional. - Testing links, embedded media, and interactive elements to confirm usability and addressing any discrepancies identified during migration. - Documenting the migration process, including creating a step-by-step guide and guidelines for future content updates or migrations. 2. Recreating embedded data visualizations - Where needed, redesign interactive data visualizations such as charts, maps and infographics, using approved data visualization tools so that they align with the original content. 3. Content mapping - Mapping data hub publications against UN Women websites to check for existing redundancies - Mapping data hub components against UN Women's website and user manual to identify matches or gaps, outlining components that will need to be developed or enhanced based on data hub needs. - Documenting mapping process, including creating a user guide on existing components.
