Mission and Objectives
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been active in Ghana since 1987 and is contributing to the Government of Ghana’s efforts to manage migration effectively. IOM works with its partners in Ghana to promote safe migration, meet the growing migration challenges, advance the understanding of migration issues, encourage social and economic development through migration, and uphold the human dignity and well-being of all migrants.
IOM Ghana continues to stand with the Government of Ghana to ensure the full implementation of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) - in support of national development and to the benefit of Ghanaian migrants abroad and migrants in Ghana. The Global Compact builds on target 10.7 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in which Member States committed to cooperate internationally to facilitate safe, orderly and regular migration.
IOM is an active member of the United Nations System in Ghana, and works within the United Nations Sustainable Development Partnership (UNSDP) 2018 – 2022, which presents the coherent vision and collective support of UN Agencies towards achieving Ghana’s development priorities.
Objective
The objective of this assignment is to design and produce professional, visually compelling, and publication-ready layouts for:
- The IOM Ghana Country Strategy
- The IOM Annual Reports for Ghana, Togo, and Benin; and
- A series of Info Sheets highlighting key programme areas and results,
- ensuring full compliance with IOM branding and communication guidelines.
Context
The IOM Country Offices in Ghana, Togo, and Benin are preparing their respective Annual Reports and a series of Info Sheets summarizing key thematic areas, results, and programme highlights. To ensure high-quality, professional, and visually engaging publications aligned with IOM’s global branding standards, IOM seeks to engage a qualified graphic designer to support the layout and design of these materials
The graphic designer will work under the overall supervision of the IOM Ghana Communications Unit and in close coordination with designated focal points from IOM Togo and IOM Benin.
IOM will provide:
· Finalized text content
· Photos and visual assets
· Branding guidelines
· Technical feedback and review inputs
Task Description
Under the supervision of the IOM Ghana Communications Unit and in coordination with focal points from IOM Togo and IOM Benin, the graphic designer will undertake the following tasks:
A. Country Strategy and Annual Report Layout and Design
- Develop creative design concepts and layout templates aligned with IOM global branding guidelines.
- Design report covers, inside pages, section dividers, visual elements, and data presentation pages.
- Incorporate text, photographs, charts, and tables provided by IOM.
- Ensure clear visual hierarchy, readability, and professional presentation.
- Maintain visual consistency across the three country reports while allowing country-specific customization.
B. Info Sheet Layout and Design
- Design visually engaging Info Sheets summarizing key programme results, thematic areas, and impact.
- Use IOM developed templates that can be reused for future updates.
- Incorporate graphics, icons, infographics, and visual elements to enhance clarity and accessibility.
- Ensure Info Sheets are suitable for both digital dissemination and print.
C. Infographics and Visual Enhancement
- Develop infographics, charts, and visual data representations where required.
- Enhance visual presentation while preserving the integrity of the original content.
D. Branding Compliance
- Apply IOM branding standards, including logo placement, typography, colour schemes, and layout structure.
- Ensure consistency with IOM global visual identity guidelines.
E. Review and Finalization
- Incorporate feedback from IOM Ghana, Togo, and Benin focal points.
- Provide revisions as required.
- Deliver final print-ready and web-ready versions.
4. Deliverables
The graphic designer will deliver:
- Design concept and layout working file
- Fully designed and laid-out Country Strategy – IOM Ghana
- Fully designed and laid-out Annual Report – IOM Ghana
- Fully designed and laid-out Annual Report – IOM Togo
- Fully designed and laid-out Annual Report – IOM Benin
- Design template and working files for Info Sheets
- Designed and formatted Info Sheets for each country (number to be agreed, estimated 6–10 per country)
- Design template and working files for Infographics and visual enhancement
- Designed and formatted Infographics and visuals
Final Files
- Print-ready PDFs (high resolution) for all reports and info sheets
- Web-optimized PDFs for digital dissemination
- Packaged source files (Adobe InDesign or equivalent), including fonts, images, and linked files

Education
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia, or related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in publication design.
Demonstrated experience designing annual reports, info sheets, and institutional publications.
Experience working with UN agencies, international organizations, NGOs, or corporate institutions is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Strong experience in infographic design.
Strong knowledge of typography, layout, and branding application.
Competencies
Bilingual- desirable (French and English)
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to incorporate feedback efficiently.
Strong communication skills.
