Mission and objectives
The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Ethiopia supports the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team (UNCT) in the strategic coordination of UN development activities. Our mission is to ensure the UN system provides coherent, effective, and efficient support to Ethiopia’s national development priorities, including the Ten-Year Development Plan and the Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda. The objective of the RCO is to facilitate joint programming, strategic planning (via the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework), and high-level policy engagement with the Government of Ethiopia, International Financial Institutions (IFIs), and development partners to accelerate progress toward the SDGs.
Context
The UN Ethiopia "Strategic Reboot" represents a fundamental shift in how the UN supports national development, moving from project-based implementation to acting as a "Systemic Architect." This briefing note is a high-level policy document that will be used for crucial engagements with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning and Development, and International Financial Institutions. Professional visualization is required to ensure the complexity of these strategic shifts is accessible and compelling for senior policymakers.
Task description
The Online Volunteer will provide professional graphic design and layout services to transform the finalized "UN Ethiopia: Strategic Reboot" briefing note into a polished, visually coherent document. This is a design-only task; the text is finalized and must be used verbatim.
Tasks include:
1. Layout the full text (approx. 3,500 words) into a professional document (8-12 pages or as needed) that uses typography and spacing to create a clear hierarchy for headlines, sub-headlines, and body text.
2. Design 4-5 integrated visual elements (icons, simple flowcharts, or call-out boxes) to illustrate key concepts from the text, specifically: the "Five Core Shifts", the "Flagship Pipeline" stages, and the summary of priority flagships.
3. Ensure the visual style is consistent with UN branding, emphasizing professional, government-aligned, and systems-level partnership.
4. Deliver final editable source files (Adobe InDesign or PowerPoint) and high-resolution PDF/PNG exports for both print and digital sharing.
5. Perform up to two rounds of minor layout adjustments based on consolidated feedback from the RCO focal point.
