Mission and objectives

UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women works with governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector to advance women’s rights and gender-responsive governance. The Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Knowledge Centre is a knowledge and capacity-building platform aimed at strengthening gender equality policies, research, partnerships, innovation, and stakeholder engagement in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Context

The GEWE Knowledge Centre is currently expanding its outreach and partnership engagement with government institutions, academia, civil society organizations, international partners, and the private sector. To support visibility and strategic communication efforts, UN Women seeks support from an online volunteer with strong creative and digital design skills to develop a modern and visually engaging one-pager leaflet/brochure (approximately 4 pages) presenting the GEWE Knowledge Centre, its mission, key pillars, activities, and partnership opportunities. The final product will be used during meetings, conferences, trainings, donor outreach, and partnership discussions. The assignment is expected to combine strong visual storytelling, modern design approaches, and concise communication tailored to institutional and external audiences.

Task description

The Online Volunteer will support UN Women Kazakhstan in developing a visually attractive and professional promotional leaflet/brochure for the GEWE Knowledge Centre. Main responsibilities include: -Review existing materials and background information about the GEWE Knowledge Centre; -Propose creative visual concepts and layout ideas for the brochure; -Design a modern 4-page leaflet/brochure suitable for both digital sharing and high-quality printing; -Support visual structuring of key information, including text hierarchy, icons, infographics, and visual storytelling elements; -Ensure alignment with UN branding and professional communication standards; -Incorporate feedback from the UN Women team and revise the design accordingly; -Deliver editable source files and print-ready versions. Expected Deliverables: -One professionally designed 4-page leaflet/brochure for the GEWE Knowledge Centre; -Print-ready PDF version; -Editable source files (Canva/Figma/Adobe or equivalent); -Optional visual assets/icons used in the design.
