Mission and Objectives

UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Our mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA aims to achieve three transformative results: (1) ending preventable maternal deaths, (2) ending unmet need for family planning, and (3) ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. The work of UNFPA is based on the premise that all human beings are entitled to equal rights and protections. We focus on women and young people because these are groups whose ability to exercise their right to sexual and reproductive health is often compromised.

Context

UNFPA Myanmar is implementing a complex humanitarian response in a highly dynamic environment marked by conflict, displacement, natural disasters, access constraints, and evolving coordination structures. The Country Office supports life-saving interventions in sexual and reproductive health (SRH), gender-based violence (GBV), mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), humanitarian supplies, cash assistance, and preparedness. Given the scale and pace of humanitarian operations, UNFPA is seeking an International UN Volunteer to strengthen coordination, reporting, planning, proposal development, and day-to-day management support across the humanitarian portfolio. The Humanitarian Support Analyst will provide direct support to the humanitarian function by improving internal coordination, ensuring timely and high-quality reporting, supporting resource mobilization efforts, strengthening planning and tracking systems, and helping manage cross-cutting operational tasks. The role is designated to increase efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and enable more strategic humanitarian leadership.

Proposal Development and Resource Mobilization ● Support drafting of concept notes, project proposals, donor templates, presentations, and funding updates. ● Coordinate technical, operational, and budget inputs from relevant units. ● Track proposal pipelines, deadlines, revisions, and feedback. ● Support the preparation of donor engagement materials and strategic summaries. 3. Additional Information

Living conditions and remarks
Yangon is the busiest and most populous city in Myanmar. Yangon served as the capital of Myanmar until 2006, when the military government relocated the capital to the purpose-built city of Nay Pyi Taw in central Myanmar. With over 7 million people, Yangon is Myanmar's largest city and its most important commercial centre. Yangon boasts of all modern amenities, malls, hotels, cafes and an international/domestic airport. Yangon has reasonably reliable health infrastructure, though most expats prefer to travel to Bangkok (1 hr by flight) for anything serious. The housing market in Yangon for expats is relatively expensive, but a wide range of options is available.
