Context
This document outlines the criteria and process for selecting qualified volunteers who can lead Russian language speaking clubs tailored to beginner-level learners. The focus will be on facilitating engaging, practical, and interactive sessions that promote language acquisition through real-life conversations.
The objectives of the speaking clubs are 1) to provide UNDP staff members with conversational skills in Russian; 2) to encourage interaction and practice through engaging activities; 3) to create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable using Russian in everyday scenarios.
The online volunteers will have the opportunity to connect with international staff serving in Türkiye while contributing to their personal development in Russian language skills.
Online volunteers who complete the assignment successfully will receive a digital certificate of appreciation.
Task description
We are seeking 4 Online Volunteers who may support us by leading and conducting beginner level language speaking sessions in Spanish language with UNDP staff members.
The target group of learners consists of international UNDP staff who are fluent in English. Online volunteers are expected to design sessions for an audience with little to no knowledge of Spanish. The content provided by the online volunteers should be more interactive, incorporating role plays, games, and activities rather than following a traditional classroom teaching approach.
Sessions are planned to be held on Fridays only and for 4 weeks starting from 18 October with a kick-off meeting with the Talent Development Manager and UNV Online Volunteering Programme Coordinator, and UNV Operations Associate on 11 October.
To this end, we are looking for Online Volunteers who will be responsible for:
- Planning and conducting 30-minute speaking sessions every Friday for 4 weeks.
- Facilitating mini conversations on topics such as greetings, self-introductions, shopping, and other relevant themes.
- Utilizing role play, games, and visual materials to enhance learning and engagement.
- Assessing learners' progress and adapting lessons to meet their needs.
