Media and Communication Associate

· Experience of formal qualification in public health, courses in communication techniques and/or graphic design and/or visual language in the use of social media, and training in risk communication is desirable. · At least two years' relevant work experience in delivering communications services and products at the national level. · Understanding of public health and international development issues. · Proven skills in the development and implementation of communication/media products and approaches, including solid writing skills. · Ability to represent and promote the WHO brand in virtual communities and networks. · Ability to develop messaging and positioning for an international organization. · Ability to elicit and communicate success stories. · Knowledge of WHO/United Nations agencies programmes and practices. · Understanding of the WHO mandate and goals in the emergency incident management context. · Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment. · Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel. · Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet. · Familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment. · Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision. · Ability to work with tight deadlines. · Sound security awareness. · Valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive a manual gear 4x4 over rough terrain are desirable. · Have affinity with or interest in communication, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
