Mission and Objectives
UNDP operates in over 170 countries and territories, working to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. We support countries in developing strong policies, skills, partnerships, and institutions to help sustain their progress.
The Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean and the UNDP Regional Hub in Panama support UNDP’s regional programmes and offices in 26 countries—covering 42 countries and territories.
Context
The goal of the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) is to enable the activities of UNSMS organisations, including UNDP, within acceptable levels of security risk.
The UNDP Security Office (SO) is a client-oriented Centre of Excellence for Security Risk Management, focusing on high-quality, timely and effective support and advisory services, helping clients to assure an environment for safe programme delivery. The Security Office is responsible for providing effective Security Risk Management advice and support at all levels (HQ, Regional, Country Office and Project), within the overall UN Security Management System, thereby enabling security of UNDP operations, programmes, and personnel globally.
The UN Security Risk Management (SRM) process is a United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) tool to identify, analyse and manage safety and security risks to United Nations personnel, assets and operations.
The goal of the assignment is to assist the ongoing security risk management process aimed at enabling the delivery of UNDP programmes in the region. This will be done by producing comprehensive weekly and/or biweekly reports of geopolitical, security and safety developments from open-media sources. There is no set start date for this online assignment, but once selected, the candidate is expected to start as soon as possible.
