What the volunteer will do
Mission and objectives
UNIC Manama is responsible for promoting greater public understanding of and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating information on the work of the Organization to people in Bahrain and the Gulf region.
Context
UNIC Manama serves as the primary source of UN-related information in Bahrain and the Gulf region. To enhance its media monitoring efforts, volunteers will assist in tracking developments, public perception, and coverage of UN activities across traditional and social media. The communications unit will support volunteers by providing a media update template and an in-depth briefing on task requirements.
Task description
UNIC Manama is seeking two Online Volunteers to monitor media and social media platforms, analyse trends, and provide insights into public perceptions about the UN. Each volunteer will be responsible for:
Monitoring a set of news and social media platforms to track key headlines and developments relevant to the UN’s work.
Identifying and summarising public opinions on the effectiveness of UN efforts, both positive and critical.
Covering UN personnel activities related to key regional issues.
Developing daily media updates and media coverage reports in coordination with the communications unit.
Each volunteer is requested to produce one weekly report.

Required Experience
Previous experience in media and communication, particularly media monitoring.
