Context of Assignment:
UNAIDS, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS, is a leading advocate for global action on the HIV/AIDS pandemic. UNAIDS is committed to using digital tools to strengthen organizational effectiveness and better support the global HIV response. As part of its ongoing digital transformation efforts, UNAIDS is promoting the responsible and effective use of Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI-powered productivity tool designed to enhance staff efficiency and collaboration.
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) team is seeking an Online UN Volunteer to support engagement, promotion, and awareness activities related to Microsoft 365 Copilot. This assignment is fully remote and designed as a focused, time-bound engagement to help increase staff awareness, confidence, and practical use of Copilot across the organization.
Context
Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to support UNAIDS in promoting, highlighting, and encouraging the practical use of Microsoft 365 Copilot among staff through engagement, communication, and knowledge-sharing activities over a twelve-week period.
Expected Outputs
By the end of the twelve-week assignment, the volunteer is expected to have contributed to:
- Increased visibility and awareness of Microsoft 365 Copilot within UNAIDS.
- A small set of Copilot-related promotional or knowledge materials (e.g. tips, prompts, examples, infographics, reels).
- Inputs or suggestions that help improve staff understanding and confidence in using Copilot.
Task Description
Under the supervision of the Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) team, the Online Volunteer will support the following activities:
- Support internal awareness and promotion of Microsoft 365 Copilot among UNAIDS staff.
- Assist in preparing short, user-friendly Copilot tips, use cases, or examples tailored to non-technical users.
- Help curate, draft, or update simple Copilot-related content (e.g. prompts, FAQs, quick guides).
- Support engagement activities such as:
o Short posts or messages for internal collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams channel, or Microsoft Viva Engage.
o Contributions to existing digital literacy or Copilot-related resources.
o Creating and sharing prompts for staff to try in the Copilot environment.
- Aid in collecting informal feedback from staff on Copilot usage, frequently asked questions, or challenges.
- Perform other related tasks as agreed, aligned with Copilot promotion and adoption objectives.

Required Competencies
- Interest in digital tools, innovation, and AI-enabled productivity.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools; prior exposure to Microsoft Copilot or any other GenAI tools is an asset.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and simply, especially to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, multicultural environment.
- Creativity and a user-oriented mindset.
Qualifications and Experience
- Background or studies in information technology, communications, digital transformation, knowledge management, or a related field is desirable.
- Experience supporting user adoption, communications, training, or digital engagement is an advantage.
- Prior experience with the UN system is an asset but not required.
