Mission and Objectives

UNDP in Nepal VISION STATEMENT UNDP Nepal works with the people and Government of Nepal, and other development partners to pursue equitable and sustainable human development goals through eradication of poverty, increase in livelihood opportunities, improvement in community resilience against conflict, disasters and impact of climate change, while laying down strong foundations for a society based on rule of law with an inclusive and participatory democracy.

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, including eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities and exclusion. We help countries to develop policies, capacities and build resilience to achieve and sustain development results. UNDP Nepal has been supporting the Nepalese people in their efforts against poverty since 1963. Much of this support has gone to strengthening the capacity of government, civil society, and community groups to fight poverty, and to bring national and international development partners together to design and implement successful projects that contribute to Nepal’s development objectives. Task Description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Procurement Analyst or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Procurement Associate will perform the following: - Register agencies procurement requests and support procurement team to initiate procurement by processing e-requisition in Quantum; cost recovery of UNDP’s services to agencies, keep track of procurement processes including delivery of goods and services, acceptance by agency and payment. Assist to submit the payment request in oracle system and ensure the proper and timely documentation of the supporting documents. Assist in organization of procurement processes including preparation and conduct of RFQs, ITBs or RFPs, receipt of quotations, bids or proposals, their evaluation, negotiation of certain conditions of contracts in full compliance with UNDP rules and regulations. - Preparation of Purchase orders, contracts and Agreements in Quantum, preparation of Recurring Purchase orders for contracting of services, facilitate Suppliers profile creation and upgrading in Quantum. - Preparation of submissions to the Contract, Asset and Procurement Committee (CAP) and Advisory Committee on Procurement (ACP) as required. - Assist to communicate and provide the information as and when required to support in providing client-oriented services; Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programmed mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (For instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results, and opportunities. Contribute articles/write- ups on field experience - Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: - Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); - Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; - Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities. - Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; - Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; - Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible. - As an active UNDP team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNDP and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: - Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment - A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

Skills and experience
At least 3 years of professional work experience in independently handling high volume public procurements; experience of working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset. Knowledge of using Quantum or other web-based applications for procurements. Other desired/mandatory required technical knowledge. Living conditions and remarks
As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.
