Mission and objectives
ICERMediation is a U.S.-based non-profit organization and a specialized social impact platform dedicated to cultural revitalization, sustainable tourism, peacebuilding, and ethnic/religious conflict resolution. The organization holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and operates a dedicated digital cultural heritage platform showcasing heritage, boosting tourism, and supporting local economies.
Core Mission and Objectives:
Conflict Resolution: Developing alternative methods to prevent and resolve interethnic and interreligious conflicts globally.
Cultural Revitalization: Fostering unity and preserving minority or underrepresented traditions, heritages, and indigenous languages.
Sustainable Tourism: Supporting local economies by connecting travelers with authentic local community experiences.
UN Alignment: Fostering global collaborative actions that actively target United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
Context
ICERMediation is a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization based in New York, United States. ICERMediation works to promote peacebuilding, intercultural dialogue, cultural heritage awareness, community engagement, and digital cultural participation.
The World Heritage Forum is an international gathering designed to bring together 5,000 cultural ambassadors, universities, government agencies, nonprofits, civil society groups, cultural organizations, youth associations, diaspora communities, artists, performers, heritage advocates, educators, students, researchers, and community leaders. The Forum will provide a platform for participants to celebrate cultural heritage, promote intercultural dialogue, support cultural tourism visibility, strengthen community participation, and contribute to the safeguarding of tangible and intangible heritage.
This assignment will help ICERMediation reach diverse global audiences and encourage early awareness, participation, and institutional engagement in the World Heritage Forum. By supporting digital promotion, Online Volunteers will contribute to sustainable human development by helping communities share their cultural heritage, strengthen intercultural understanding, increase visibility for local and indigenous cultural traditions, and promote inclusive participation in global cultural dialogue.
The assignment contributes especially to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly the protection and safeguarding of cultural and natural heritage. It also supports SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting cultural learning and knowledge-sharing; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by encouraging intercultural dialogue and peaceful engagement; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by helping build global networks among cultural, academic, nonprofit, and community institutions.
Task description
ICERMediation is seeking five Online Volunteers to contribute to the digital promotion of the World Heritage Forum, scheduled to take place from October 13–18, 2029, in Westchester County, New York, United States.
The World Heritage Forum will bring together universities, cultural organizations, civil society groups, youth associations, diaspora communities, heritage advocates, artists, educators, researchers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to celebrate cultural heritage, promote intercultural dialogue, strengthen cultural tourism visibility, and encourage international collaboration.
The digital promotion project is divided into five separate assignments. Each Online Volunteer will be assigned one clearly defined task and will be responsible for producing one specific deliverable.
Assignment 1: Develop a 12-Week Digital Promotion Plan
One Online Volunteer will review the World Heritage Forum information and promotional materials provided by ICERMediation and develop a structured 12-week digital promotion plan.
The plan will identify:
Weekly promotional themes and objectives;
Priority target audiences;
Recommended digital platforms;
Suggested types of content for each week;
Recommended posting frequency;
Key calls to action; and
Suggested indicators for monitoring campaign progress.
Expected output: One complete 12-week digital promotion plan presented in an editable document or spreadsheet.
Assignment 2: Create Social Media Content for Institutional and Professional Audiences
One Online Volunteer will develop social media content designed primarily for universities, cultural institutions, heritage organizations, nonprofit organizations, researchers, educators, government agencies, tourism organizations, and professional networks.
The volunteer will prepare content for use on platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X, based on the promotional information and branding guidance provided by ICERMediation.
The content will be prepared at a frequency of two posts per week for 12 weeks.
Expected output: A package of 24 social media posts or captions, including relevant calls to action and suggested hashtags, for institutional and professional audiences.
Assignment 3: Create Social Media Content for Youth, Diaspora, and General Audiences
One Online Volunteer will develop social media content designed primarily for youth associations, student groups, diaspora communities, cultural clubs, artists, performers, cultural ambassadors, community organizations, and members of the general public.
The volunteer will prepare accessible and engaging content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and other appropriate digital channels.
The content will be prepared at a frequency of two posts per week for 12 weeks.
Expected output: A package of 24 social media posts or captions, including relevant calls to action and suggested hashtags, for youth, diaspora, cultural, and general audiences.
Assignment 4: Research Digital Platforms and Outreach Networks
One Online Volunteer will research online platforms, organizations, networks, pages, groups, and digital communities where information about the World Heritage Forum could appropriately be promoted by ICERMediation.
The research will focus on universities, cultural heritage institutions, civil society organizations, youth networks, diaspora associations, artistic communities, tourism networks, intercultural organizations, and cultural advocacy groups from different regions of the world.
For each recommended outreach target, the volunteer will record, where publicly available:
Name of the organization, platform, group, or network;
Geographic or thematic focus;
Website or social media link;
Target audience;
Relevant contact or submission information; and
A brief explanation of its relevance to the World Heritage Forum.
Expected output: One organized database or spreadsheet containing at least 60 relevant digital platforms, organizations, networks, groups, or online communities for possible outreach.
Assignment 5: Develop an Outreach Message and Email Invitation Toolkit
One Online Volunteer will develop a collection of adaptable outreach messages that ICERMediation can use to introduce and promote the World Heritage Forum to different stakeholder groups.
The toolkit will include messages adapted for universities, cultural organizations, civil society groups, youth associations, diaspora communities, artists and performers, tourism organizations, heritage advocates, and potential institutional partners.
Expected output: One outreach communication toolkit containing:
At least 10 email invitation templates;
At least 10 short direct-message or social media outreach templates;
Suggested subject lines;
Audience-specific calls to action; and
Guidance on adapting the messages for different stakeholder groups.

Skills and experience
Candidates should have some experience or demonstrated interest in at least two of the following areas:
Digital communication, social media promotion, or online advocacy;
Cultural heritage, intercultural dialogue, tourism, international relations, peacebuilding, education, or nonprofit work;
Writing short promotional content for social media, newsletters, or online campaigns;
Researching organizations, online communities, networks, and potential institutional partners;
Using platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, or other digital communication channels;
Preparing simple reports, activity summaries, outreach lists, or content calendars;
Communicating respectfully with culturally diverse audiences.
Strong writing skills, attention to detail, reliability, and respect for cultural diversity are important.
Experience with Canva, Google Docs, Google Sheets, WordPress, Mailchimp, or basic graphic/content design is desirable but not required.
