Support to Multimedia Production: 20th Anniversary of the Tehran Convention

Since its inception in 1972, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has been the global authority that sets the environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP’s mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. This position is in the Secretariat of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (Tehran Convention). The Tehran Convention is the first regional legally binding instrument signed by all five Caspian littoral states. It serves as an overarching governance framework which lays down the general requirements and the institutional mechanism for environmental protection and sustainable development in the Caspian Sea region. August 12, 2026, marks the 20th Anniversary of the entry into force of the Tehran Convention. This milestone represents two decades of regional legal cooperation and environmental protection in the Caspian Sea. To commemorate this achievement and showcase the impact of the Convention's Protocols and projects, the Secretariat aims to produce a high-impact promotional video. Short-form and mid-form video content are essential tools to communicate these results to national authorities, scientific institutions, and the public across the five littoral states. This assignment will contribute to the visibility of the Tehran Convention by showcasing key messages across digital platforms.. Volunteer will gain insight into how the UN communicates development results and advances global goals at the regional level.

The Online Volunteer will be asked to: ● Develop the script and creative concept: Draft a narrative that highlights the Convention's milestones and future goals. ● Video Editing & Production: Edit existing archive footage, photos, and branding materials provided by the Secretariat. ● Content Enrichment: Identify and suggest additional visual elements or motion graphics to enhance the storytelling. ● Post-Production: Add professional transitions, background music, and simple motion graphics/animations. (narrative in video approx. 3–5 minutes) ● Multilingual Integration: Create and hard-code subtitles in both English and Russian to ensure regional accessibility. ● Format Adaptation: Produce final video files optimized for various platforms (e.g., horizontal for the official website/YouTube and vertical snippets for social media).

The Tehran Convention Secretariat is seeking an Online Volunteer to lead the creative development and production of a promotional video celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Convention. The selected online volunteer will work remotely under the supervision of the Tehran Convention Officer to produce a compelling narrative (approx. 3–5 minutes) along with shorter "teaser" clips for social media.
