Mission and objectives
The Twenty-First Century African Youth Movement (AYM), through our platform Voices of the EMERGING Africa, is dedicated to amplifying the narratives of economic transformation, innovation, and youth empowerment across the continent. We believe that by telling the stories of Africa’s untapped resources and industrial potential, we can inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and advocate for policies that keep value and jobs within Africa.
Objectives of this Assignment:
Raise Awareness: To educate a global and local audience on the "value-addition gap" in the cashew industry, where Africa produces over half the world's raw nuts but captures only a fraction of the industrial value.
Advocate for Industrialization: To visually demonstrate the tangible benefits of local processing—specifically job creation for youth and rural development.
Inspire Action: To serve as a digital "call to action" for investors, policymakers, and young entrepreneurs to view agriculture not just as farming, but as a gateway to large-scale industrialization.
Digital Innovation: To utilize cutting-edge AI video generation tools to create a high-impact, cinematic documentary that competes with global media standards, despite being a grassroots youth-led initiative.
Context
West Africa is currently the world’s leading producer of raw cashew nuts, yet the region processes less than 10% of its own harvest. This means that while Africa grows the crop, the industrial value—and the millions of jobs that come with it—are exported to processing centers in Asia and Europe.
At Voices of the EMERGING Africa, our mission is to showcase the pathways toward a self-reliant and industrialized continent. This documentary project, produced in collaboration with the Twenty-First Century African Youth Movement (AYM), focuses on the "Golden Opportunity" of cashew processing. It is designed to address the urgent youth employment crisis by demonstrating how a single agricultural value chain can be transformed into a massive engine for job creation, rural development, and economic sovereignty.
By using cutting-edge AI video technology, we aim to produce a cinematic experience that makes complex economic concepts accessible and inspiring to a global audience. This video will serve as a centerpiece for our advocacy efforts, targeting policymakers, investors, and the next generation of African entrepreneurs. We are looking for a volunteer who is passionate about using their creative skills to tell a story of African potential and industrial transformation.
Task description
We are seeking a creative Online Volunteer to produce a high-impact, 12–15 minute AI-generated documentary titled "CASHEW: The Golden Opportunity West Africa Is Giving Away." The documentary explores the economic potential of transforming West Africa from a raw material exporter into a global hub for cashew processing.
The volunteer will be responsible for:
Visual Asset Generation: Utilizing advanced AI video tools (such as Sora, Runway, Pika, or Kling) to create visually powerful scenes based on a pre-written script. This includes generating cinematic footage of West African landscapes, industrial factories, and farming communities.
Voiceover Coordination: Integrating a professional, AI-generated narration with a confident African accent (to be coordinated with the project lead) that follows the script’s emotional arc.
Video Editing & Composition: Assembling the generated clips into a seamless 15-minute narrative. This includes managing transitions, pacing, and "breathing room" between key economic points.
Motion Graphics & Overlays: Adding on-screen text, animated maps (highlighting key producing countries like Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, and Ghana), and data visualizations to emphasize key statistics provided in the script.
Sound Design: Sourcing and layering background music and ambient sound effects to enhance the documentary’s emotional and professional quality.
Final Delivery: Producing a high-definition (1080p or 4K) video file optimized for YouTube.
What we provide:
A complete, scene-by-scene script with visual prompts and narration.
Clearly defined thumbnail concepts and branding guidelines.
Continuous feedback and collaboration via agreed communication platform.
