Mission and objectives

The International Volunteer Year (IVY 2026) supports countries and partners in documenting, sharing and promoting volunteer-related initiatives and good practices. The Knowledge Portal serves as a global platform to collect experiences, events and examples from across regions. This assignment supports National Focal Points by facilitating structured and timely submission of content into the Knowledge Portal.

Context

The United Nations has declared 2026 the International Volunteer Year (IVY 2026) to recognize volunteerism as a key driver of sustainable development. Launching on International Volunteer Day—5 December 2025, IVY 2026 is a call to governments, organizations, and communities worldwide to champion volunteerism in all its forms—formal and informal, local and global—while fostering inclusive policies and ensuring volunteer contributions are recognized and measured. In Europe and Central Asia, there are National Focal Points for 19 countries are generating updates, events, publications and stories related to IVY 2026. To ensure information is captured consistently and made available globally, online volunteer support is required to coordinate content collection, prepare entries and upload information into the Knowledge Portal.

Task description

The ten Online Volunteers will support with: - Liaise with assigned National Focal Points to collect content and updates for publication. Each Volunteer may be asked to coordinate with 1-2 National Focal Points. - Review submissions for completeness, formatting and consistency, and upload and organize content within the Knowledge Portal. - Prepare draft summaries and short descriptions for events and initiatives. - Track pending submissions and maintain a simple content monitoring sheet. - Support basic quality assurance and metadata consistency across entries. - Coordinate with the IVY team on publication timelines and follow-up actions. Online Volunteers may be asked to join an orientation call for this assignment.
