Mission
UNHCR's mission is to protect and support people forced to flee due to conflict, persecution, violence, or human rights violations. UNHCR works to save lives, protect fundamental human rights, and help people rebuild their lives through voluntary repatriation, local integration, or resettlement.
Objectives
To achieve its mission, UNHCR aims to:
Provide international protection by ensuring access to asylum, preventing forced return (refoulement), and advocating for the rights of displaced and stateless people.
Deliver life-saving assistance, including shelter, food, clean water, healthcare, sanitation, education, and livelihood support.
Promote durable solutions through voluntary repatriation, local integration, and resettlement where appropriate.
Prevent and reduce statelessness by supporting access to nationality and legal identity.
Coordinate humanitarian responses with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, donors, and affected communities.
